Brand Reflection #4: Supergoop

The leading brand in sun protection

Every once and a while I'll come across a brands Instagram post that genuinely makes me excited, this was one of them. I often use Instagram for commerce and love following brands that I have purchased from. It keeps me up to date with new releases and loops me in on their story and community.

This particular post is from Supergoop, a makeup and skincare brand known for pioneering the way to daily SPF wear. Supergoop is already popular amongst young trendy adults, not only is it sold in stores like Madewell and Nordstrom, it also rakes in a large online following of 130K followers. I personally have been following their Instagram account for a while and am a big fan of their aesthetic. They also post about skin cancer awareness and prevention tips which provides their followers with extra value rather than just selling their product. Since I was familiar with Supergoop through seeing other fashion bloggers/influencers post about the brand and being a follower of their account, I was encouraged to buy their product once I found it while shopping at Madewell. Their content positively impacts me because it encourages me and others alike to incorporate sunscreen in our daily lives. The product doesn't take away from your daily routine, it adds a bit of security into your day while still staying trendy.

When I saw on Instagram that they just released the first ever cream eyeshadow with SPF 30 I actually gasped. I thought it was a genius move on their part and extremely inovative. They not only took the opportunity to educate their followers on protecting the delicate eye area from the sun, but also gave a solution to combining two steps of getting ready in the morning. I don't think I would have known about this product without their post and now I am just about ready to order it online. I wasn't as excited about the brand as I could've been before this, but now I am going to be an active follower again to see what they release next. I think that with this new product they are going to attract many new followers because of the hype that it will create. Since it is so innovative it is likely to be shared amongst multiple groups. I also went ahead and looked through the comments to see everyone else reaction and to no surprise they were just as excited. Supergoop also takes the time to reply to every comment which is extremely important, it is a small step that brands often times forget.

Once I try the eyeshadow out for myself, I am likely to recommend it to a friend or family member. Sun protection is important for everyone! Why not support a brand that does this naturally while still staying fashionable.

This post taught me the importance of staying innovative as a brand. Supergoop understands that if you're not moving forward then you're falling behind, and that's a mind set I need to take to all brands I work with. Along with of course, keeping a visually appealing Instagram and staying in touch with loyal followers.
